it was a short, pleasant ride to petra where we found a nice hotel, overlooking the valley. jordan is much nicer than we had expected and we already regret that we only have permits for our bikes for three days.
tomorrow we'll visit the old town of petra which was caved into a canyon several hundred years ago. then, the day after, i will drive straight out to damascus while mauro is planning to meet osa again in jerusalem.
it was afternoon when i ran into ron. we had first met in lilongwe, malawi, where we quickly became friends. then we met again in kampala, uganda and while i was recovering from my accident in february he found my lonely motorbike at the beleguez pension in gondar, ethiopia and left a message for me.
while we didn't actually meet that many times we always heard about each other form other travellers. now we are both on our way home. i still have a few kilometres to drive while he's almost back home in israel which he'll have to reach soon as he's down to six us dollars - "good spirit, ron!"
needless to say, such an occasion had to be celebrated... cheers!
