tim, robert, thomas and i left this morning for the zebrabar, a campsite just south of st. louis, which had been recommended by just and cora in atar.

there was quite a bit of sandy piste to on the way to the little village next to the zebrabar. from there you have to cross a river, either by driving through the water or by crossing over a little footbridge.

i didnt want to loose my bike in the floods, so took the footbridge. the nice little bridge, just wooden planks, was really designed for pedestrians and not for bikes... and it ends at the other side about 1,5 meter above the sand... one bit step at the end, just a little too high to drive the bike over it. i couldn't turn around so the only option was to jump... never done that before! i pushed back a couple of meters, accelerated and...

...landed on the beach without falling off the bike. a great feeling, really! „and don’t ever worry about the way back! that’s the trick for another day“, i thouhgt, just when an old man, who works for the zebrabar, came running along with a long woodplank, perfectly designed for a smooth descent from the bridge. it was thomas who sucessfully tested this far more civilized solution.

tim and robert made it through the river with their truck without a problem. we entered the campsite and realized, that apart from the old man noone was there. the season only just starts around this time of the year, and the owners, who are swiss, are expected to arrive any day.

in the evening a cook came in from the village and surprised us with a delicious meal.
