Title: a short walk in the table-kush
Location: cape town, south africa
Text: km 77'117

despite yesterdays late-night wine tasting with silivo, sid and i managed to get up early and go to table mountain.

people ususally refer to 'climbing' table mountain... it's really not a climb but a stepp walk... a very steep walk indeed. we had choosen the perfect day for our trip with a perfectly blue sky and a pleasant breeze to keep us cool.

about halfway up the mountain i realized that my physical condition was not even nearly as good as i had alsways believed and i had to think about a book i had read on the boad travelling down the congo in september. it was called 'a short walk in the hindukush' and was about two englishmen who, whithout andy mountaineering experience attempted to climb 'mir samir' in afghanistans nurestan in the 1950s... and here i was exhausting myself on a tourist trail up a only 1000 meter high mountain!

but the view was well worth the pains and i promised myself to do more mountain walking, once i would be back in switzerland. it's such a rewarding thing to see how the landspace apparently changes with the gradual climbing.

we reached the top of table mountain after little less than two hours and enjoyed the view. on the way to a restaurant we passed a guy who offered a funny activity...
