| Title: | the interview |
| Location: | brazzaville, congo |
| Text: | km 70'037 this morning, at the cyber-cafe i met pascale who is the local correspondent for the BBC. “i have never seen you before,” she said, “which organisation are you working for?” i told her that i was (just) a tourist and that i has just arrived on a boat, together with my motorbike. “would you mind giving an interview?” she asked me right away. would i mind? of course not! we met for diner in a nice vietnamese restaurant. it was not exactly a cheap place but the food was fantastic and i though “let’s BBC suffer a bit”. So i stuffed myself with spring-rolls, ginger-fried-chicken and beer. unfortunately i was told only after the food that she was in fact a freelance jounalist and that she had no budget for meals... so i was swiftly punished for my greedyness; and it served me right. in any case the food was delicious and worth the price. and the beer... have i ever complained about the cost of beer...? and anyhow, we really did have a good time. giving the interview was much easier than i had expected and i soon felt really comfortable to talk about my trip into a microphone. after everything was recorded we continued discussing many things until late. it was a very pleasant evening. |
